The History of Foundation

The Maestro Temirkanov International Foundation for Cultural Initiatives was formed by Yuri Temirkanov in 2004. Maestro Temirkanov clearly stated its Mission to sustain, maintain and advance Saint Petersburg's tradition of cultural achievement.

The first gift was made by Maestro Temirkanov himself who donated a part of his 2003 Triumph Award.

Today the Foundation seeks to introduce a wide range of programmes associated with sustaining Saint Petersburg's traditions and shaping the city's contemporary cultural landscape. These include arranging music festivals, supporting the Saint Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra, bringing classical music to children, assisting talented young musicians in and outside Russia as well as engaging in music education.
